I can't lie...I still love when people who have been traveling bring me gifts from their journeys. Hubby went shopping on his way back from a weekend trip and picked me up some new makeup to play with from Bare Essentials.

Buxom Lip Polish in Lana and Kitty
bareMinerals Smoky Eye Tutorial
I will play in the mirror with makeup all day but don't wear it on a daily basis. I always feel like it looks fake and cakey. I was in the mirror last night reading and re-reading the directions to the Smoky Eye Tutorial while I made a sad attempt at the subtle smoky eye (there are also directions for a sultry smoky eye). I definitely need more practice on that front but I absolutely adore the lip gloss! Kitty, the lighter color is a perfect gloss for daytime and actually does plump up the lips like the box claims. Lana (darker) is a clear gloss with a deep red tint and very sexy.
Have you tried any of the Bare Essentials products? If so which ones are your favorites? I love testing out new beauty products, even if nobody but Hubby sees it.
Hey Lovies! Working in the basement of an office building, there is absolutely no pressure to come to work looking like you stepped off the pages of your favorite fashion magazine. But when you look good, you feel good and feeling good makes you happy and being happy makes 8 to 5 go by really quickly...anyway.... here are a couple of shots of what I wore today.
I have been in New Orleans since Saturday visiting my mom and working on a couple of different projects. It just so happens that I am killing about 3 birds with one stone; visiting my beautiful mother, working, and enjoying the Mardi Gras festivities. This is a photo of me after the Orpheus parade last night...
Don't you love the glasses!!!! I hope you are all having a great week!!!
Two years ago when I discovered fashion blogging, one of the first blogs I regularly visited was Cupcakes and Cashmere. I loved the ease with which Emily showcased her favorite outfits, recipes, and activities on a daily basis. With every blog I visit regularly, I want to know more about the person behind the blog, so when I come across interviews it quickly catches my attention. It is especially important when successful bloggers like Emily give helpful nuggets on how to build a brand and make your personal blog as noteworthy as theirs.
Here is a quick look at an interview with Wall Street Journal where Emliy gives us some insight on being Cupcakes and Cashmere.
I have 30 minutes before I get off work and can spend the rest of my day with the My Love. "I Love Yous" are exchanged multiple times daily on a regular basis but it is still nice to know that this day is extra special!
A friend of mine let me borrow Mockingjay, the third installment of The Hunger Games Series, on Friday. I started Saturday afternoon. I finished Monday afternoon. Suzanne Collins keeps your attention from the first sentence in The Hunger Games to the Epilogue of Mockingjay. I was absolutely speechless at the end and really didn't want it to be over. Yesterday, after I finished and periodically throughout today, I would reflect on the entire series thinking, "I could start it all over right now and still be blown away." Definitely an awesome series and highly recommended!
Since the Miu Miu Glitter Craze of Fall 2011, I haven't been a fan of the curved heel. I think I was overwhelmed my the glitter + bow + curved heel and just couldn't get with the shoe as a whole. A glitter pump, wonderful! A beautiful bow at the toe, fantastic! A curved heel, all for it! But all three was a bit much for me. And then to see them on every blog, everyday for months just got annoying.
Fast forward to this morning, when I was supposed to be working and was browsing Saks' website instead, I spotted these wonderful creations.
