Monday Meditation

Good Morning Lovies!!! I pray everyone had a great weekend. I actually had a weekend at home instead of on the road. Whenever I am still for too long, ideas begin to surface. Sometimes new and sometimes old, my dreams always have a way of creeping back into the forefront of my mind. It would be easy to let situations and circumstances kill them but what fun would that be?

Don't let anyone or anything keep you from dreaming! And then go out and make your dreams come true!!!

Good Morning Lovies! It is our second Wellness Wednesday! We all know that drinking water is vital for optimal weight loss. But what do we do when we are tired of plain water and need some more flavor in our lives? Below are a couple of options I cannot wait to try!

If anyone reading is a Mom, you can understand how I can never get enough of my Little Miss. This weekend was filled with quality time with her and my Hunny. We have been going so fast the past couple of weeks, it was so refreshing to slow down and spend time with the ones I love most. Wellness Wednesday: Baby Steps

Hi Lovies!!! Today is Wellness Wednesday!!! Maybe some of your are wondering how I did during my time in Vegas! Well I am proud to say I am human. I didn't do my very best, but I did okay.  I didn't give into my need for a Cinnabon which is a feat in itself. 

To accomplish my goals, I am working on replacing some of my old habits with new ones. Like having one salad a day. I am not a fan of salad unless there are a lot of extras. Extra cheese, extra croutons, extra dressing...you get it. So now I am trying my best to eat a salad a day without all the additional calories. Here are a couple of my choices over the past couple of days.

So there you have it. Baby steps people. Benjamin Franklin said "Happiness doesn't come from big pieces of great success, but from small advantages hammered out day by day." I am taking pride of the small victories and basking in every milestone in this journey.

Monday Meditation

Happy Monday Lovies!!! I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend! I know I sure did! 

This weekend I had the privilege of going to Las Vegas for my companies international convention. Hubby and I just recently joined this company and this was my first experience at one of their major conventions. It was wonderful! The entire culture of the company is rooted in love and hope and a desire to succeed. Have you ever been in a room with 4,999 other people who had the same dreams as you? It is a very emotional and magnificent feeling! All I can say is that I have come back to my regularly scheduled life with a new mindset.

I am ready to change my life and help change other peoples lives along the way!

What are your dreams? Find people who have the same vision as you and surround yourself with them!

Wellness Wednesday: Travel Troubles

Good Morning Lovies!!! Today is Wednesday... AKA Humpday...but more like Friday for me! Tomorrow I am headed out to Las Vegas!!! I am ridiculously excited! Going for a business conference but meeting one of my best friends in the whole world at the same time. No Hubby, no Naomi, just ME!!!! So ready! 

Usually when I know I am taking a trip, especially to see ridiculously gorgeous people like my bestie, I try to diet and lose a couple before hand only to throw it to the wind while I am on vacay and indulge, indulge, indulge. As a result, whatever routine I was keeping before vacation is ruined and all the weight I lost is back with a vengeance. Typically it takes me at least a month to get back on track again. This time around I am definitely trying to "get my mind right" and understand that just because I am on a break doesn't mean I can breakdown, eating and drinking everything in sight (although there will be alcohol involved this weekend, I mean it's Vegas). This way when I return from my travels, I can jump back into my routine with no time lost and no pounds gained. 

To help me prepare, I found Top 6 Tips for Traveling on a Diet, or for me while committing to a healthier lifestyle.

  1. However you’re traveling, pack some healthy, tasty snacks such as low-fat crisps and sandwiches, fruit, diet drinks and low-sugar cereal bars so that you’ll be less tempted to buy higher-fat snacks. It’ll save both lbs and pennies!
  2. It might be tempting to eat at every opportunity when you’re traveling because you don’t know when you’ll next have the chance. But if you’re relying on food from service stations, airports, buffet cars and ferry terminals much of it is likely to be high in fat and calories. Fortunately, most sandwiches, rolls, crisps, ice creams and chocolate bars contain calorie information on the packaging, so use this information to choose the healthier options.
  3. Sucking the odd ‘travel’ sweet won’t do any harm, but try not to work your way through the whole tin! Boiled sweets can easily contain up to 20 calories each – and they soon add up on long journeys. Keep your mouth busy with sugar-free gum and save those calories for a holiday cocktail instead.
  4. If you’re flying, avoid eating just before taking off. Even if you're not hungry, you'll probably eat the in-flight meal out of boredom. Airline meals provide around 600 calories and even though you’re eating them at altitude, the calories still count!
  5. Skip all the extras that come with in-flight meals. Give the butter and roll a miss, avoid the cheese and don’t add the salad dressing if it’s in a separate sachet. Also skip those little packets of savories that are served with drinks – each pack can contain around 100 calories.
  6. Don’t drink too much alcohol when you’re flying. It might be free, but too much will leave you dehydrated (which can make jet lag worse), give you a headache and pile on the pounds. Mini bottles of spirits such as gin, vodka, whiskey and rum provide a double measure so allow 100 calories per bottle and ask for slimline mixers. Beer tends to come in small cans so allow around 95 calories per can, while a small bottle of wine contains around 150 calories. Fruit juice is just 50 calories per glass, but it’s easy to drink vast amounts on a long haul flight so if you’re feeling thirsty, have water instead.

Note taken. I am traveling in the morning which is the time I have my biggest meal. I usually fall victim to airport food and pick up a Cinnabon for the flight....guess I am going to be skipping that and pulling out a granola bar, fruit, and water...it's gonna be a long flight but I can do it!!!

Loving Me: Wellness Wednesday

I think of FJWL as an online diary where I can share the things I love most in the world, new and old. My favorite shoes, outfits, places, people, I even showcase my dearest possession Naomi Sinclair. I may whine about a few frivolous topics, but typically my posts are upbeat and positive. Today is different. Today I want to share with you something very personal and sensitive for me. I have been debating on doing this post for over a month and came to the conclusion that sharing this particular struggle will help me power through. So before you continue, I ask that you read with a kind heart and not leave any hurtful, mean-spirited comments behind. What did mama say? "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."

*Deep breath* If I look at my life, I know that my greatest daily struggle is the one I have with my weight.

In childhood, I was the cute chubby girl. As a teenager, I was "thick." In my early 20's I was almost skinny, but not. And in my late 20's, I am just plain fat. I understand that I have had a child and with that comes some minor weight gain, but not 60 pounds. Before Naomi I had put on some unwanted weight, add that to the weight I gained during my pregnancy and voila! a gain of 100 LBS. The first two years, I told myself that I would lose it by the time she was 3. Well, my Baby girl has been on this earth for 3 years and I am still the same size. Thankfully, I haven't gained any weight, but unfortunately I haven't lost any either. That resolution continues to roll over into the next year and this year I want to cross it off my list forever! 

Therefore....

I am introducing, Wellness Wednesday to FJWL. Every Wednesday, I will be posting all things wellness. Some topics will include healthy eating, best/favorite workout gear and accessories, workout options, updates on how I am doing with my weight loss, and a myriad of other things dealing with wellness.

It is time to show you how much I love myself! I love myself enough to invest in my life and make healthy changes to have the best quality of life I possibly can! I am extremely excited about this and hope that you all will support me. I welcome any and all recommendations, ideas, constructive criticism, and encouragement! 

Just to give you an idea of my goal...
